Maurice Bouwhuis obtained a PhD in physics from the
University of Utrecht while working at NIKHEF in the
area of experimental nuclear physics. He has worked as a
post-doc in the US and at a high-energy physics
laboratory in Hamburg, Germany, where he was part of the
management of the HERMES experiment.
During this time his interest shifted from pure
experimental physics to large-scale data production.
Bouwhuis joined SARA Computing and Networking Services
in 2004 and
now leads the e-Science Support group within the High
Performance Computing Department. This group
participates in National projects as the Virtual
Laboratory for e-Science and in BioRange
(bioinformatics).
